Thankful Thursday – A Cliché? Or a Good Practice?

What do I have to be grateful for? Thankfully, plenty.

It is a lot of talking and writing about thankfulness and gratitude journals etc these days. So is it just another way of masking negativity and denying the dualism of this world? Or does ‘thought of gratitude’ actually bring something of value?

Being thankful goes way back in spiritual practices. It is a long lost wisdom that is being rediscovered. I believe, this new reinforcement of gratitude is partly due to the new attention and popularity of Yoga and Mindfulness etc.

But there is a reason for these almost cliché-expressions like “Thankful Thursday” – it actually works.

Being grateful has been shown in several studies to affect our brains in a positive way and being of great help in expanding ones life quality, improving the feeling of contentment and being at peace.

Off course it can also be used as a way to mask negativity. But let´s just say that that wont work in the long run. You can´t block things out, you have to deal with them. And as long as you deal with how life is and accept what is in front of you (or with in you) with a loving kindness, the practice of gratitude can really be efficient.

So how do I practice it? Keeping gratitude journals can be great for some. But I like to keep things more simple. I don´t believe there is a “You have to do it this way”. Try different approches and see what works for you.

Every morning when I wake up I take a few deep breaths, center myself in the ‘here and now’, and then I focus on the gratitude for a moment, while still in bed. Wich just might be my first thought of gratitude – our comfortable bed.? Other things that usually comes to mind when paying attention to things I am grateful for is ‘waking up next to Maria’ ‘having our Zen master Napoleon in our lives’ ‘waking up healthy, free of disease (if I am, off course)’ ‘being able to breath and having lungs that function’. And so the list can go on.

My one tip for you when starting practicing or just paying attention to things you are grateful for in life – Anything goes! Nothing is a cliché and being grateful for a beautiful new piece of clothing or for breathing fresh air is just as good as any thought. ??

Last but not least, I am grateful for all of YOU! Reading and sharing and commenting – spreading the love together with Maria, Napoleon & I.

I wish you all a Thankful Thursday ? ~ Märta

Wedding cake and gold

Flavour inspiration! Today, on our wedding-cake-baker Alexanders birthday, we went for a tasting of cakes at Mr Cake in Stockholm. Yum!

Since both Maria and I are allergic to gluten we only ate the mushy filling while Alexander focused on the whole cake. ? Perfect combo for the big slices of cakes!

We tried out salted caramel and the choclate cake with raspberry.

I loved the salted caramel! It was so tasty! The choclolate one I didn’t like so much. But that was Alex and Marias favourite. I was hoping for some more original flavours. Like caramelized pinaple or juice cherries or something.. (I’m just making it up, but it sounds good right?!)

The Swedish fika ended in us deciding on flavours! And now we let the creative juices of Alexander flow freely. ?❤ Let Mr Cake..bake!

Oh and another thing! The Gold for our wedding rings arrived on Monday so yesterday I started working on our rings! ??

Lots of love to you all! Have a Pawsome night..or day ?

Being brave on my Birthday – Telling My Story for an audience

On my Birthday this year I was asked to give a speech about my story and my path to a healthy life.

When I was in my late teens I got really sick and my whole immune system collapsed. I was brought to the hospital by ambulans in full speed with the sirens on. Everything in my throat was so swollen that I couldn´t breath. That was just the begining of about 13 years of struggeling with disease, medication in form of injections, endless doctor appointments meeting people with no capacity of understanding how it felt being a youg woman traped in her own body…

So on my birthday last Sunday I was asked by the national board of an organisation helping people with primary immune deficiency, to tell my story. I was so nervous.

It brought back so many emotions that I delt with over a long time, and I sat at home sobing while prepping for my speech. Actually I didn´t need much preparation – I had held that speech so many times in my head when taking a shower, cooking a meal or doing any other daily activity. My thought was if I so could help one, ONE person, feel better and get inspired to move towards a heathier life, then that would be worth telling my story for. It would be worth telling about some of my lifes worst moments only in order to show that anything is Pawsible.

In return I got smiles, head nods, tear drops and ‘Thank you’s’ from so many it moved me. The respons I got made it all worth it. And it will all be worth it again. There is a power of sharing ones story, especially if you are on a mission – like I am. ? I work with women helping them create healthy, joyful Lifes through an inner shift of awareness – giving yoga- Pilates- and meditation classes, healing sessions and soon to be digital courses. This is only the begining. And I hope to reach as many people ready for a healthy, joyess life to join me and my partner Maria.

I wish no one has to go through what I went through without support and knowledge about our infinite strength from within. ❤

It will be a joy if you join us, making this life a journey lived from our hearts, together. ❤

Stunning! But… No. Not this one either.

But she did find a cool, elegant one. And we bought it! She will be gourges! ❤❤❤

We tried on…

But did not buy!

Let’s just say there are some gorgeus dresses out there, just not for us. ?

As you can see on the look of our faces. ?

The classical look – it’s just not for me.

Maria though, my bride to be, looked stunning! But not so amused… ?❤

(Maria is standing on a little footstool ??)

I still feel like I want a completely different kind of dress.. but let’s see.

Thankfully we had moral support with us. ❤ Thank you Birgitta!

Smoothie recipe for Pawsome breakfasts ?

I vary my breakfasts alot depending on ceveral things – my energy level, health, season (varm/cold) and off course what I am in the mood for.

Today I will share with you one of my favourite smoothie recipes!

Years back when I was really sick, I step by step searched for information on how to optimize my chanses for improved health. One way was through nutrition.

So here is one of my favourite things to do for an easy breakfast or “in between meals/after workout”.

For 2 persons:

2 bananas

2 oranges (red if they are in season)

A hand ful of spinach

1 cup of berries – I like to have f ex rasberries or blue berries.

200ml coconut milk or cream (half a can)

About 1 dl water (depending on how thick you want it)

1-2 table spoons (tbls) of chia seeds

Option:

Also add 1 tbls of green powder, f ex Moringa powder

Just slice it all up and mix it! It works fine to mix it with a stick blender. ?

Cheers to a healthy, pawsome living!???? (Hopefully with some sun and springtime not far away ?)

And please, let me know if you liked it. ⬇️

Lots of ❤~ Märta

Important message! To all the women out there..

To all the women out there….❤❤❤

I will not write to you why this day is important – that would be to state the obvious. As long as I – as a woman, a gay (or whatever I identify with) woman – can not go free around the world, accepted as I am and choose to be (without hurting anyone else) – this day is needed.

Instead I wish to say to you all – I LOVE YOU! I wish to back you up. To tell you that what ever shit or problem is coming your way, you are loved. So face the problems with grace and love, out of a knowingness that you are held and loved.

I wish for us women, no matter the external differences and different opinions, to back each other up. To be loving, acceptant and caring. That is what I wish for us and for our future generations to come.

Nowadays we encourage women and young girls to be powerful and fierce – But I also want to send a loving thought for all the girls and women who are shy and don´t feel that they are fierce and strong. You too are loved, just the way you are. If love would be our first priority in society, having to fight for our rights would no longer serve its purpose…

So today I wish to encourage you all to connect with the true love within yourself, face the persons around you like you face yourslef. Spread as much love around you so that the fears creating seperation and nonequality in our society will fade away.

Be powerful, outspoken and strong if you are. Be silent and graceful if you are – but who ever or what ever personality you possess – speak out of love, act out of love and always always; let your thoughts be kind and loving – towards yourself and others.
When anyone gets connected to true love, the need for putting anyone else down (including themselfs for that matter!) resolves. Love and fear does not reside in the same space.

So If you haven´t heard it today, let me say it out loud and clear: You are beautiful, strong, vulnerable, compassionate, magnificent, powerful and most importantly – you are loved.

We are in this journey of Life together. Let´s back each other up, celebrate our lives and differencies today with lots of….. love! ?

Pawsome spirit

Today I sit in my new office at home. This is the first week with more time on my hands to work towards my dreams. I feel so happy and inspired! And a bit scared. ? That only shows I am on the right track.

My dream is to help women create joyful, healthy lifes through a shift in awareness. To help women ground themselves into who they are so they can discover their beauty and be Pawsome Spirits too! All for one, one for all. ❤ There is a need for women to start empower themselves and other women along with them! To (re)discover the strenght, love and joy from within. ❤??

I know what it is like to beat yourself up. That used to be me. When something didn’t go well how quickly I was sending negative thoughts to and about myself, aware or unaware of what I was doing.

And when you judge yourself really hard, you judge others the same way.

I’ve been through a lot – years of severe illness, stress, death, unhealthy behaviors, not knowing my true self and not knowing what was in my heart. ❤

But I grew wiser. And all the hard times has served me for the better.

When there is darkness, the light becomes more obvious and it can give energy to the light to grow stronger. The darkness however is not necessary. The light is always present, but we humans tend to not see the light and so we are helped by the duality of this world – the darkness and hard times – to discover the light and joy from within us.

So this joyful, healthy way of living is what we are working on – the shape and form of it is under developement and also, this is just the begining. ?✌? A begining that starts with – “Anything is PAWSIBLE”.

With lots of love, we wish all of you Pawsome Spirits out there a happy weekend! ?????

Wedding plans – we got the location!

The wedding plans are moving allong and I am so happy to anounce we have found the place – and booked it! Woohooo!

The ceremony will be held in what I call The Space Rocket.

The Space Rocket is a church in our close by neighbour hood. It is up on a hill surronded by a park with a beautiful view over Stockholm.

Actually it is called Sofia church, but around the time Maria and I met, my dad was passing away in cancer. And everytime going for a walk around Marias neighbour hood (now ours) along the water, I could see the church and thouth of dad and said; “Hi dad.” And then I usually said to Maria “There is the Space Rocket to dad’s. He is close by. Somewhere.”

So I am happy to say that this is where we will get married!!!

And after the ceremony we go for a short walk down to the ferry, that will take us to our hoods and here we have found the perfect location for the dinner and wedding party! ????

By the water, just like I visioned! And as a bonus – close to home. ❤?

When we started to look for location here in Stockholm almost everything was booked. But I was sure we would find our place – and so we did! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Dad, univers or whom or what ever! Thank you. ?❤

So save the date – The 16th of June we are getting MARRIED!!!!

Xoxo ~ Märta
