Simple Granola Recipe & Birthday breakfast

Today we celebrate Maria on her… 28th… birthday. 😉

Napoleon and I woke her up with singing and the kitchen smelling of cinnamon and homemade granola. It is really easy to make! And tastes delicious.

And then we celebrated the Birthday girl!

I wish for many more healthy, joyful years together on this earth and for Maria to grow old with me. ❤

Granola recipe

2 dl pumpkin seeds

2 dl puffed rice

4 dl oats

Smoothie recipe for Pawsome breakfasts 🥂

I vary my breakfasts alot depending on ceveral things – my energy level, health, season (varm/cold) and off course what I am in the mood for.

Today I will share with you one of my favourite smoothie recipes!

Years back when I was really sick, I step by step searched for information on how to optimize my chanses for improved health. One way was through nutrition.

So here is one of my favourite things to do for an easy breakfast or “in between meals/after workout”.

For 2 persons:

2 bananas

2 oranges (red if they are in season)

A hand ful of spinach

1 cup of berries – I like to have f ex rasberries or blue berries.

200ml coconut milk or cream (half a can)

About 1 dl water (depending on how thick you want it)

1-2 table spoons (tbls) of chia seeds

Option:

Also add 1 tbls of green powder, f ex Moringa powder

Just slice it all up and mix it! It works fine to mix it with a stick blender. 👌

Cheers to a healthy, pawsome living!🥂🍌🍊🥑 (Hopefully with some sun and springtime not far away 😉)

And please, let me know if you liked it. ⬇️

Lots of ❤~ Märta

What we eat when in Bali – Favourite restaurants and cafés

Let me tell you there is some great food here in Bali! For me it is important to eat clean most of the time since I notice a big difference in my health when I eat healthy. I have tried many options when it comes to healthy food and habits and have now found my way that works really great. I don’t keep it strict, but i know how to when needed. Here in Bali, especially around Ubud, it is easy to eat clean and green. Many places has got great food on their menues!

Our favourite resturants has been in and around Ubud. We will give you a taste of our favourite restaurants, starting with this one; The Yellow Flower Café.

When it isn’t very cloudy, this café has a nice view of the volcano Gunung Agung. The place is run by an Australien woman and her Balinesian husband.

We usually share a coconut and it comes with cute plant straws – really organic. 😉

The raw spring rolls with a peanut sauce with a touch of mint is to die for.  Basically everything on the menu is good. It is all organic, local and mostly vegetarian and vegan. Though there are some option if you are in the mood for fish or organic chicken.

We also had a big breakfast here with smoothie bowls and papaya lime frappochino (the orange sort of sorbé you can see above). So deliscious!

The tempeh and corn sallad doesn’t look much fun here…but it is so so good.

The way to The Yellow Flower Café is lovely. Quite exotic for a Swede! 😉🌴

Let’s wraps it up with a dessert! A Balinesian rice pancake with shreded coconut, palm nectar, strawberries and bananas. Yummie!

Lots of love and health from Bali ❤🌴❤ ~ Märta

First yoga in Bali 🙏

Last night we tried another restaurant for dinner here in Ubud, or more like it, a café – Café Vespa. The feeling was more western than the other places we’ve tried.

We shared a big coconut. They are so delicious here in Bali! The taste is fresh and not too sweet. Not to mention all the healthy benefits from drinking a coconut. A really good thing is to squeez some lime in to it. Yumie!

Maria had an Italian inspired veggie dish and I had an Indian inspired dosa (sort of a crepe but glutenfree) that I filled with mashed sweet potatoe, spinache, schreded coconut and hommus. Delicious!

Today we had our first yoga session and since we’ve been jetlaged from our arrival to Bali, we started off with some gentle restorative yoga at this nice place close to our house outside of Ubud.

In the middle of a rice field, in the open air, together with Oscar the very relaxed  yoga cat, we got into a good vibe with some rewinding yoga.

And off course, we chilled off with a dip in the pool afterwards. 😊🌴👙

Tomorrow new adventures await…

Lots of love ~ Märta 💚

Bali night – Delicious vegan dinner in top rated restaurant

In the middle of the rise fields, in what felt like a small piece of jungle, we sat down in a little wooden mini house, one with no walls and just a dinner table in the middle and cusions around it, to enjoy the Balinesian night. The smell from the kitchen reached us and we got really excited for what was coming.

Our dear friends Melanie and Tobias, whom stayed in Bali many times, took us to an all plant based restaurant. They had preordered the starters for us and we understand why. The jackfruit tacos tasted like heaven. And the rest of the dinner to follow were just as good!

Fresh juice and a probiotic drinks.

So if ever in Ubud, Bali, try restaurang Moksa! 🌴🌿🍽👌

Now time for a stroll in Penestanan. Plenty to discover! Lots of love ~ Märta ❤

456 days without coffee

Could you go 456 days without coffee? I just did (and now I’m about to receive a medal from the Swedish King Carl Gustaf). Anything is pawsible, don’t forget that! 😉

Why am I living a life without coffee (who does that?)

I’ve read that it’s harder to get pregnant if you are over 35 years old and drink more than two cups of coffee every day. I drank three cups and I was 36. Just to show the Universe that I was willing to do anything to get pregnant, I quit coffee (and boy do I enjoy my coffee)! Just like that. Three days of intense headache and then it was done. Or was it…?

Hell no! I miss my coffee every day. I even miss to use my beautiful coffee cups from Le Creuset. And I miss the social thing with coffee that no tea-drinker in the world could ever understand.

One more reason for not drinking coffee was that my iron levels were low (way to low). And coffee makes it harder for the body to absorb iron, hence no coffee.

Unexpected benefits

In the beginning I only drank green- or rooibos tea and nothing with caffeine. This taught me to really listen to my body. It became so much easier to decide when I needed to rest or to take a nap. As you all know I still suffer from my burnout and have low energy levels throughout the day. Before I could take a cup of coffee and go on with whatever I was doing for 1 or 2 hours more before taking that nap. Now I couldn’t without the caffeine. I tuned in more and started to listen to myself. And also, I don’t need to pee as often…

Unexpected disadvantages

I’ve gained weight since I quit coffee. Has combustion reduced? Or… did I eat more sweets as a supplement to coffee? I guess we’ll never know. 😉

20 more days

I’ve decided when and where I’ll have my first cup of coffee (for a really long time). I’m going to order an organic black coffee to my first breakfast in Bali! Yey! Less than 3 weeks away. I can almost smell the coffee right now. Delicious! I’ll try to just drink coffee in the mornings. I’ll give you an update on how that goes.

Have you ever quit coffee? And for how long? Why did you do it? Please comment below.

Flexitarian – Saturday dinner in the woods

A few months ago I got asked to help some friends decorate their apartament. I got to be their interior designer for a little while and I enjoyed it very much. I love doing anything with shape and colours, weather it is a blank canvas, a fabric, photography, a clean face to do make up on, a total make over, or anything else that can be shaped, reshaped or just created in harmony with shapes, colours and lines. Movement; dance and yoga included. All just for the fun of it! For the vibrant colours and for the love of creativity.

A blank canvas, a clean face or even food – all for being creative and playfull with colours and shapes. And trying to look good at times 😉😄

As a thank you they gave Maria and I a gift card at a lokal shop. Almost like a small version of Whole food markets, but only located here in Stockholm. All good merchandise, organic and mostly (if possible) locally produced. I love it, so many good things there!

So on our way to our friends house, out in the Woods.. we stoped by and got some good things for dinner. Usually I eat vegetarian, but I don’t want to exclude anything so once in a while – A good piece of meat… with a glass of red wine.. with some great company.

Toasting to some good news! I’ll tell you more soon…! 😃

I hope you all hade a relaxing, good weekend. Lots of love ~ Märta

Date night ❤

Maria is back after visiting her family in her hometown for almost a week..

And Napoleon and I are thrilled! 😍❤

Last night after Maria got home we went out on a date. I had booked the tickets already this summer and was so excited it was finally time!
We first went to Centralbadet for dinner, in their lit up indoor green garden; a sort of light therapy for our dark Scandinavian months, in the middle of Stockholm.

The food there is a mixer of really healthy meals and Scandinavian classics. I had a Portobello burger with sallad, so delicious!

In the green garden our friends Brittis and Ida met up with us (also known as Eddy and Patsy, if you recall Absolutely Fabulous 😉) and made sure the glasses were filled with wine 😉👌 at least for Maria and Brittis.

A stone’s throw away the show was about to start; The Nutcracker! By Fredrik Benke Rydman – one of Sweden’s most acclaimed choreographer.

A mixer of street-, break-, jazz dance and balett.

My heart were singing and my soul were dancing with the performers on stage to the beat of the rythm. I felt like I was floating on the music of the classical notes. I loved it. ❤

How so many layers of messages can be delivered and interpret by so many with music, movement and staging says it all. No spoken language needed. ❤

Now it is time to give Maria a massage and enjoy the Friday feeling. Napoleon is already on the table waiting 😊👌 Lots of Friday fun and love to you all! 💃

Nom nom Namaskar

Last night was a lot of fun! I wish I could show you some pics but they were blurry. ;P

The only thing I have is a video when the friend crew burst into song right before  the movie at our cinema started playing (a childrens song in all excitement!). It was wounderful and weird. Imagine Wonder Women, childrens song and sushi all at once, then you’ve got the picture 😉

Our friends are really beautiful <3 I wish to spend more time with them. I see them way too rarely, with everyday-busy-scheduel, life is just rushing by. I will change that. Though right now, to change that and make more time and room for friends I need to work hard and focus to create the space I want. I am motivated!

Today, however, Maria and I decided to take a work break and go for lunch at this new restaurant in Hammarby Sjöstad, called Namaskar Bistro. (Have I told you I am a sucker for good food?!?) They served indian tapas that tasted like heaven! Just look at this:

So here I am, stuffed and with Napoleon on my lap, not moving an inch. Wishing you a happy weekend – Namasté!

Happy pancakes and some other yummy treats

This morning I thought it was time for a healthy treat. Right now I eat fairly strickt just to get my thyroid gland back in balance and to regain strength. Though my view is that we heal through energy (we are energy down to our very core, and there for it´s easy to understand that we also heal through energy. Simple quantum physics 😉 but I´ll get back to you on that another day), I still think all pieces of the puzzle play their part to set the intention to be healthy and to heal. That includes food. Basically – shit in, shit out, is how it is for me. So even though I enjoy some ”shit” at times 😉 I eat clean and mean and green most of the time! Why? Beacause it optimizes my health.
So here are som yummy and healthy treats to face the upcoming colds and winther ahead!

We heal through energy. Simple quantum physics 😉

When I was in Skärholmen (a part in Stockholm) for work and passed by the square I couldn´t resist on buying some beautiful veggies at the market. The result; raspberry and parsley pancakes! Served with strawberry mush and honey (and for me a little butter aswell hehe. Maria doesn´t like butter, can you believe it..!)

If you want to try them make a bach of American pancakes. I always make them healthy 😉 If you want to do the same; remove the sugar or use a bit of honey instead. I used almond milk and a bit of water, and I used coconut, almond and chickpea flour instead of wheat (since I eat glutenfree and beacuse it´s good stuff for you). Add a pinch of mineral salt. After that I added my fine chopped parsley and cut in half raspberries. Mmmm mmm mmmmm! The pancakes turned out delicious! Luckily for me since I never go by recipe, I just blend as I go along 😉 .

Another thing that I do a lot of right now are different soups. Here is a spinache, sugar peas and tumeric soup (well it was plenty more stuff in it but these were the main ingredients. It sort of resembled the park I walked through on my way to work the other day 🙂

I love to have a warm healthy drink (besides all the green tea I love drinking). This one is so simple and has a lot of antiinflammatory benefits.
Heat up some water (or you could use almond milk or some other plantbased milk), add some sliced fresh ginger, tumeric, a little bit of cinnamon and a spoon of coconut oil. Sometimes I add some lemon. This gets me started for the day!

What is your favourite (healthy?) food right now?

Now you´ve seen bits and pieces of what I eat these days. Sharing is caring <3 So please leave a comment on what is your favourite (healthy?) food right now and let me know if anything above sounded good.

Lots of love, pancakes and treats 🙂 //Märta
