Happy hips! And sweat pants Sunday..

I am planning next weeks yoga class and I intend to give my yogis some Happy hips! By my side I have the Zen master, Napoleon – the cat in Stockholm. 

When studying Napoleon, I learn from the best about being present, savasana (resting pose in yoga) and playing, just for the fun of it  🙂 

In eastern medicin it is said that in the hips we store our past. In western medicin we say stiff hips is due to sitting still a lot, which we do nowadays. Either way (or any other way for that matter) opening up and strenghtening the hips is really good for us. After a Happy hip yoga class I usually feel so much more grounded and light at the same time. 

Let’s see what this weeks classes will bring!

Freedom lover 

If we allow everyone to be free - mostly ourselfs - we give them/us the space to fly high, to grow, to love with no limits and to expand beyond the box that only exists in our minds

Freedom - is my favourite word. It is the most allowing, spacious word in the vocabulary, I think. If we allow everyone to be free - mostly ourselfs - we give them/us the space to fly high, to grow, to love with no limits and to expand beyond the box that only consists in our minds. 

In this life I have been very sick. Experiencing what it feels like to be locked up in my own body. Someone (me?) locked me up and threw away the key. I was trapped. And after being both the fighter, the victim and probably many more rolls - I gave it my all to become well again. I even learned to give it my all only just to let it all go. I did it all for freedom. To regain my health yes, but mostly - for freedom! 

What I learned from all of this is plenty. But one thing is that freedom comes from a place within us. When the body is sick, or not functioning the way we would like it too, an injurie or getting older, we are pushed to look within ourselfs to find peace. 

All the ripples on the surface, the big storms that life throws at us, I mosly look apone them with peace now. Not necesarily with happiness and cheered up positivity - no, I can feel the deepest sadness, meaninglessness or fright sometimes - but within the storms I now feel peace and a knowingness that everything is as it sholud be. Maybe not the way I want it to be, but as it should be. All is there for me to grow and experience and discover even more peace and freedom! 

In one of my former lives (yes I belive in reincarnation, basic spirit stuff for a spirit junkie like me growing up with a psychic grandma etc. 😉 I'll get back to that another time) I was a balett dancer, and dance has been very healing for me in this life too. Taking me through some hard time and also having to let go of it at one time. Or more correctly, having to let go of the identity of beeing a dancer. Nowadays, I just enjoy dancing once in a while - in what ever form I and the dance come in. 😉 

Dancing, like here on the beautiful roof topp of the Oslo Opera house, has always made me feel free! And that's why I wanted to share this throwback thursday picture with you. It represents some of the most important things to me...

Happy pancakes and some other yummy treats

This morning I thought it was time for a healthy treat. Right now I eat fairly strickt just to get my thyroid gland back in balance and to regain strength. Though my view is that we heal through energy (we are energy down to our very core, and there for it´s easy to understand that we also heal through energy. Simple quantum physics 😉 but I´ll get back to you on that another day), I still think all pieces of the puzzle play their part to set the intention to be healthy and to heal. That includes food. Basically – shit in, shit out, is how it is for me. So even though I enjoy some ”shit” at times 😉 I eat clean and mean and green most of the time! Why? Beacause it optimizes my health.
So here are som yummy and healthy treats to face the upcoming colds and winther ahead! 

We heal through energy. Simple quantum physics 😉 

When I was in Skärholmen (a part in Stockholm) for work and passed by the square I couldn´t resist on buying some beautiful veggies at the market. The result; raspberry and parsley pancakes! Served with strawberry mush and honey (and for me a little butter aswell hehe. Maria doesn´t like butter, can you believe it..!) 

If you want to try them make a bach of American pancakes. I always make them healthy 😉 If you want to do the same; remove the sugar or use a bit of honey instead. I used almond milk and a bit of water, and I used coconut, almond and chickpea flour instead of wheat (since I eat glutenfree and beacuse it´s good stuff for you). Add a pinch of mineral salt. After that I added my fine chopped parsley and cut in half raspberries. Mmmm mmm mmmmm! The pancakes turned out delicious! Luckily for me since I never go by recipe, I just blend as I go along 😉 . 

Another thing that I do a lot of right now are different soups. Here is a spinache, sugar peas and tumeric soup (well it was plenty more stuff in it but these were the main ingredients. It sort of resembled the park I walked through on my way to work the other day 🙂 

I love to have a warm healthy drink (besides all the green tea I love drinking). This one is so simple and has a lot of antiinflammatory benefits.
Heat up some water (or you could use almond milk or some other plantbased milk), add some sliced fresh ginger, tumeric, a little bit of cinnamon and a spoon of coconut oil. Sometimes I add some lemon. This gets me started for the day!
