Thankful Thursday – A Cliché? Or a Good Practice?

What do I have to be grateful for? Thankfully, plenty.

It is a lot of talking and writing about thankfulness and gratitude journals etc these days. So is it just another way of masking negativity and denying the dualism of this world? Or does ‘thought of gratitude’ actually bring something of value?

Being thankful goes way back in spiritual practices. It is a long lost wisdom that is being rediscovered. I believe, this new reinforcement of gratitude is partly due to the new attention and popularity of Yoga and Mindfulness etc.

But there is a reason for these almost cliché-expressions like “Thankful Thursday” – it actually works.

Being grateful has been shown in several studies to affect our brains in a positive way and being of great help in expanding ones life quality, improving the feeling of contentment and being at peace.

Off course it can also be used as a way to mask negativity. But let´s just say that that wont work in the long run. You can´t block things out, you have to deal with them. And as long as you deal with how life is and accept what is in front of you (or with in you) with a loving kindness, the practice of gratitude can really be efficient.

So how do I practice it? Keeping gratitude journals can be great for some. But I like to keep things more simple. I don´t believe there is a “You have to do it this way”. Try different approches and see what works for you.

Every morning when I wake up I take a few deep breaths, center myself in the ‘here and now’, and then I focus on the gratitude for a moment, while still in bed. Wich just might be my first thought of gratitude – our comfortable bed.? Other things that usually comes to mind when paying attention to things I am grateful for is ‘waking up next to Maria’ ‘having our Zen master Napoleon in our lives’ ‘waking up healthy, free of disease (if I am, off course)’ ‘being able to breath and having lungs that function’. And so the list can go on.

My one tip for you when starting practicing or just paying attention to things you are grateful for in life – Anything goes! Nothing is a cliché and being grateful for a beautiful new piece of clothing or for breathing fresh air is just as good as any thought. ??

Last but not least, I am grateful for all of YOU! Reading and sharing and commenting – spreading the love together with Maria, Napoleon & I.

I wish you all a Thankful Thursday ? ~ Märta

Pawsome spirit

Today I sit in my new office at home. This is the first week with more time on my hands to work towards my dreams. I feel so happy and inspired! And a bit scared. ? That only shows I am on the right track.

My dream is to help women create joyful, healthy lifes through a shift in awareness. To help women ground themselves into who they are so they can discover their beauty and be Pawsome Spirits too! All for one, one for all. ❤ There is a need for women to start empower themselves and other women along with them! To (re)discover the strenght, love and joy from within. ❤??

I know what it is like to beat yourself up. That used to be me. When something didn’t go well how quickly I was sending negative thoughts to and about myself, aware or unaware of what I was doing.

And when you judge yourself really hard, you judge others the same way.

I’ve been through a lot – years of severe illness, stress, death, unhealthy behaviors, not knowing my true self and not knowing what was in my heart. ❤

But I grew wiser. And all the hard times has served me for the better.

When there is darkness, the light becomes more obvious and it can give energy to the light to grow stronger. The darkness however is not necessary. The light is always present, but we humans tend to not see the light and so we are helped by the duality of this world – the darkness and hard times – to discover the light and joy from within us.

So this joyful, healthy way of living is what we are working on – the shape and form of it is under developement and also, this is just the begining. ?✌? A begining that starts with – “Anything is PAWSIBLE”.

With lots of love, we wish all of you Pawsome Spirits out there a happy weekend! ?????

The change

Our home is all quiet. It is early in the morning and I sit in a moment of gratitude.

I have just wrapped up a week with a lot of work, laying a puzzle with several pieces, in order to move my life in the direction I desire. Hard work, intention, allowing uncertainty and trusting the guidance of the universe.

In two weeks time I am leaving my permenant job, which means working less as a Speech and language pathologist/therapist and creating more space and time for yoga, energy medicine and Pilates. And also for things yet unkown.. ?

My fiancee Maria and I are working on ideas of creating a network to spread more joy, abundance, awareness and fun stuff to share with the world. Let’s see how it goes!

But for now I sit in gratitude. With the intentions I place in my mind together with a willingness to let go and let the universe guide me. Simply move in the direction of my gutfeeling. A big change is coming. Slowly but surely. ???

I wish you all a Pawsome, peaceful weekend ❤ Lots of love ~ Märta

Photo explosion from Bali

I’m so grateful for the time we are able to spend together here in Indonesia. It almost feels unreal. One whole month of exploring, eating healthy, doing yoga, working on our projects, reading Scandinavian crime fiction and spiritual books, going for long walks under the palm trees, enjoying the sun (and the heavy rains, it rains a lot).

And also – planning our wedding! Something I didn’t thought we were going to do on this vacation!! I love you Märta! So glad you poped the question! It all happened on Christmas Eve, the proposal. I wasn’t at all prepared for it. I thought Märta needed one or two more years, at least, before she was ready. And now here we are, with rings on our fingers looking at wedding dresses. I promise to tell you all about the proposal another day. Subscribe down below so you don’t miss any details. 😉

The idea was to show you a lot more photos, but we’re having some problems with Wi-Fi at the moment.

~~Love from Maria~~ (who is in a café reading Elisabeth Gilberts book ‘Big Magic – Creative living beyond fear’ while Märta is having a massage)

Wedding dresses!

Morning  time again and I am in my quiet zone. The inspiration is flowing and I just started to look into wedding dresses online… Wooah one can get stuck for hours!

I love design in so many ways – just beacause of the playfullness of forms and colours, the creative process!
Finding the balance of alignments to enhance features is an art. Almost like a dance! In dance we strive to find the perfect alignment to creat beautiful shapes and forms – different constallations – and the skill is not far from creating designs (shapes and forms) in other fields. It is all a dance – a creative expression of life! And when done skillfully – a fantastic creation you can’t take your eyes from. Pure joy, if you ask me.

So sittning here, in the cosy Hotel bed with my bride to be sleeping her beauty sleep next to me, feeling joyfull about planning the wedding and looking at dresses. Who would have thouth, some years ago… ??

But I realized I’m going to need some help!! So please comment down below if you have any ideas for where to turn to for a beautiful wedding dress!

I like a modern touch, Scandinavian simplicity, with a bit of a romantic touch. That said- it wouldn’t surprise me if the dress I’ll wear at the end will look quite different. ? Things never turn out the way we think, so it is best to aim at something and then just go with the flow.

…..(She woke up ?❤)…..
I wish you lots of love and creativity! And please send me ideas for dresses/designs/website! ? ?????

Planning the engagement – The rings ?

Being the freedom lover I am plus having to learn to trust another person and having them close enough to get to know the real me, without loosing myself in the relationship, was one of the reasons i felt I wanted to be the one to pop the question. If I ever would.

You see, I was one of those girls who never dreamt of getting married. As a child I thought the idea of a wedding was terrifying; having to stand in front of a crowd admitting and declaring the love for someone. And non the least, I had to learn to feel free within my own relationships. This took me some time and hard work. I didn’t learn it as a child so I had to teach myself as an adult (with great help and guidence).

Now I feel great with our relationship! It sure has it’s challenges and it’s ups and downs, but that’s just life. And I am so grateful for having this experience. To have Maria by my side, as my love, my support, my peaceful companien and as my challenge. And also soon to be; my wife. ❤ Lucky me.

Thinking that I in the begining of our relationship, when my dad got sick in cancer and past away within 3 months and my family was just torn apart, I almost walked away from Maria. I start to cry every time I think about it. Thank God, with Maria’s help, I decided to stay.

So after all of this, I’m sure you can understand that I wanted to be the one asking HER to marry ME. ?

Last year I started learning silversmithing. And the idea came to mind (plus Maria and her sister Christel insinuating by showing me the ringfinger ?) that I should make the rings and pop the question.

And so I did! Thin silver rings. Since I still don’t know what kind of design on a ring both Maria and I would actually like to wear most of the time (no obligation to wear it all the time). But a symbol for love that looks so great (or simple) we’d love to wear it a lot.

About the proposal, we will soon tell you all about it! ???

The idea is that I am going to make new rings during this spring, I just have to come up with a design we like first. (And actually, we both are quite found of our simple silver rings ?). Got any ideas for design? If so please share them with us in the comment field below!

Wish you lots of  ❤ and happiness from Bali ~ Märta

First yoga in Bali ?

Last night we tried another restaurant for dinner here in Ubud, or more like it, a café – Café Vespa. The feeling was more western than the other places we’ve tried.

We shared a big coconut. They are so delicious here in Bali! The taste is fresh and not too sweet. Not to mention all the healthy benefits from drinking a coconut. A really good thing is to squeez some lime in to it. Yumie!

Maria had an Italian inspired veggie dish and I had an Indian inspired dosa (sort of a crepe but glutenfree) that I filled with mashed sweet potatoe, spinache, schreded coconut and hommus. Delicious!

Today we had our first yoga session and since we’ve been jetlaged from our arrival to Bali, we started off with some gentle restorative yoga at this nice place close to our house outside of Ubud.

In the middle of a rice field, in the open air, together with Oscar the very relaxed  yoga cat, we got into a good vibe with some rewinding yoga.

And off course, we chilled off with a dip in the pool afterwards. ???

Tomorrow new adventures await…

Lots of love ~ Märta ?

Bali night – Delicious vegan dinner in top rated restaurant

In the middle of the rise fields, in what felt like a small piece of jungle, we sat down in a little wooden mini house, one with no walls and just a dinner table in the middle and cusions around it, to enjoy the Balinesian night. The smell from the kitchen reached us and we got really excited for what was coming.

Our dear friends Melanie and Tobias, whom stayed in Bali many times, took us to an all plant based restaurant. They had preordered the starters for us and we understand why. The jackfruit tacos tasted like heaven. And the rest of the dinner to follow were just as good!

Fresh juice and a probiotic drinks.

So if ever in Ubud, Bali, try restaurang Moksa! ????

Now time for a stroll in Penestanan. Plenty to discover! Lots of love ~ Märta ❤

Fantastic funny Friday!..with Spanglish guests on the way

I wrote yesterday about spreading the love. To send a loving thought, reach out a helping hand once in a while or just burst into a beautiful smile. We can all do that. ?❤

There are many ways to spread some joy, so since it’s Friday today, I’ve decided to keep it simple and share a happy, funny picture of Maria that I took in bed last Sunday morning… I am still laughing! ? I love my little book nerd, looking like Santa Clause! ??? (Notice it was the first time ever using an application like that! I think I nailed it, don’t you?!)

And just to even it out… Here is a funny pic of me from this past week, om my way to work in the snowstorm… looking like a misplaced turtle. ?❄?

Keep on spreading the joy and love in anyway possible! ❤❄❤

And tonight our Spanglish guests arrives… Qué bien!

I wish you all a fantastic Friday! ~ Märta

New Years Eve in the Tropics! …Accompanied by Pablo the penguin

When I was a kid I had two favorite books. One was Three Little Pigs and the other was Pablo – The Penguin That Hated The Cold. In the story Pablo lives in Antarctica. All the other penguins thrives and plays around in the snow while Pablo is freezing and can’t stand the cold. That’s exactly how I feel about Sweden, it’s too cold for me and it doesn’t’ feel “right”. Pablo finally decides to do something about it. He starts sawing off a part of the ice floe where his house is located at, in the shape of a boat and sets off. When he reaches southern Africa the ice floe starts to melt and he continues to travel in a magical bathtub that is powered by the shower pipe. He finally reaches the Galapagos Islands and settles down for good. He builds a hut of dry palm leaves and put up a hammock in the tropics.

The story always left me with the feeling that anything is pawsible! I remember thinking that maybe I can live in the tropics one day too and enjoy the sun and the beautiful palm trees. Now I’m 37 and I have finally decided to do something about it. Ap ap ap…. relax, I’m not moving (yet). BUT I’m going to Indonesia to live the fairy tail for one month, feeling that I am finally following the foot steps of Pablo the Penguin! (IIIiiiihhh hi hi hi hi…. dancing around the apartment)

This is what Stockholm looked like today, the first snow…

On Christmas Eve Märta and I are jumping on a plane. We are celebrating Christmas in the clouds this year and on Christmas Day we land in Denpasar in Bali. Can’t wait to explore Ubud (where we’ll be staying) and to kickstart our new projects on social media surrounded by palm trees, exotic fruits, books, yoga studios and organic healthy food.

Our new friends Melanie & Tobias already lives there and inspire us every day. They’ve built a healthy life filled with freedom and happiness. (YouTube: Love Conscious Family). Looking forward to see you soon!
